The Chef — Nourishing the Body
Owner/Operator of Foraging with You, Raeanna Layfield. Raeanna’s passion for the culinary arts has been growing since high school. After earning her Red Seal certification through culinary programs across British Columbia, she took her skills to remote heli-ski and fishing lodges. Learning to forage transformed the way she cooks and tastes the world—working with wild ingredients brings her deep joy, which she loves sharing with her clients. She is now a Private Chef, offering Live Chef Dinners and Cooking Class’s through Foraging with You.
The Forager — Connecting to the Land
Raeanna’s foraging journey began with chanterelle mushrooms in Tofino, BC and then quickly expanded to morel mushrooms that she traveled far north to the Yukon and NWT to find. From there came wild herbs, wild lettuces, fiddleheads, and beyond—no plant or fungi left unexplored.
Guided by nature, foraging has become a way of life for Raeanna, allowing her to follow her passion while honouring the land’s abundant food and medicinal offerings.
The Yogi — Grounding the Nervous System and Awareness
Raeanna began studying yoga not as a career change, but as a way to care for herself. Over time, her personal practice became her path. She left the fast-paced kitchen to teach full-time, guiding clients through mindful meditation, breath, and grounding practices. She supports others in lowering anxiety and stress, helping them reconnect with themselves.
Now, she offers these practices alongside nature, creating space for presence, balance, and awareness. Raeanna facilitates Womens Circles and Guided Forest Bathing Experiences for retreats and festivals.
Our Values — Respect.Thrive.Connect.
Gratitude to the Land and its People
We respectfully acknowledge that our work takes place on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Stó:lō / S’ólh Téméxw peoples — including the Skowkale (Sq’ewqéyl), Skawahlook (Sq’ewá:lxw), Semá:th (Sumas), Shxwhá:y (Skway), Squiala, and other Territories whose lands are near — and recognize that the land and wild foods we share are Indigenous, cared for since time immemorial.
We also acknowledge that the owner of this company is not Indigenous and expresses deep gratitude and responsibility in building respectful connections to this land and its peoples.
“It is an honour to walk this land and share teachings about the Indigenous uses of the plants and animals we encounter. This knowledge comes from thousands of years of relationship between Indigenous peoples and their territories, and I share it with humility, respect, and gratitude, knowing it must be carried and shared with care”
Giving Back — Charitable Donations
Raeanna also serves as a Board Member of a local children’s charity called Blueprints for the Future Foundation (BFF). They support kids in building meaningful relationships with the outdoors through accessible, nature-based Free Days Learning and other events. Foraging with You donates foraging workshops and wild products such as wild clay. Blueprints for the Future Foundation is still growing its members and teams, if you are ever looking to give back, please reach out to them with any questions or search their Go Fund Me page.
